A Second too late

I stood at the edge, worn down by life's relentless storm. Every breath felt like drowning in an ocean of despair. The world had long stopped smiling at me. I thought I'd found my escape, my final refuge. One leap, and all the pain would shatter like the water below.

As I took the fatal step, a sudden chill grasped my heart. Regret screamed in silence. 'What have I done?' echoed through my mind, but my body was already in free fall. Time froze, yet rushed forward. Memories flashed: laughter, love, and lost opportunities.

In those fleeting seconds, I saw the beauty I'd overlooked. The warmth of sunrise, the kindness of strangers, and the love that still lingered. Tears fell faster than I did. The rush of wind silenced my cries, but my soul screamed, 'Go back!'

The impact was imminent, yet my mind lingered on what could have been. The thought of loved ones, now left to mourn, seared my conscience. I longed to turn back time, to find solace in their arms, to seek help.

The darkness closed in, a suffocating shroud. In my final moment, I realized that the leap of faith I sought was not into oblivion but into healing, into hope. And now, it was too late.
