Childhood's joy, life's strife

Torn pages, lines fallen out,
Memories linger, childhood's joy unbound.
Who escapes its grasp? All must face,
The bittersweet taste of love's fragile pace.

Rain pours like a rushing tap,
Children's laughter, Mama's stern map.
"No, you can't go out again," she says,
But youthful hearts beat to different drums and daze.

Young love, heartbreak's sting,
Scattered moments, memories that cling.
She'll run, but true love remains,
A fleeting dream, a heart's refrain.

Daily stress, a means to an end,
Providing for the family, love to amend.
They strive, they search, they find their rest,
Humans, wonderfully made, in love and strife, they're blessed.
