AGE

It scares me that my father is aging,
I’m not a millionaire yet,
Time tick tocks
swiping seconds away,

While I sit in my 20-year-old aging body
A first-time adult pretending to know what I’m actually doing,
While writing poetry, 21-year-old me would read
God, this suspense, would I be a millionaire at 21?

It scares me that my mother is aging,
I’m not a millionaire yet,
Time tick tocks
swiping seconds

How does a physicist end up with the heart of a poet?
But bills must be paid,
So I juggle, struggle, double the hustle, sometimes burgle
All because I want to play golf with my dad in a foreign man’s land.
