It's Never Too Late to Learn

It's Never Too Late to Learn

Inspired by a dream deferred, but not defeated.

I once had the opportunity
to learn to play the guitar
in my mid-twenties.

But I listened to a voice
that discouraged me.

It whispered,
"You should have started as a child.
You should have learned as a teenager.
You're already too late."

And I believed it.

That voice silenced a dream
before it ever had the chance to sing.

How I wish I had ignored it.
How I wish I had blocked my ears.
How I wish I had followed my heart
instead of my fears.

Today, the years have passed.

Now I long for melodies
to accompany my poems,
to give rhythm to my words,
and to sing gentle lullabies
to my beautiful daughter.

But then I realised something:

The setting sun
still dries the clothes.

As long as there is light,
there is still time.

So when opportunity comes,
run with it.

Do not measure your future
by the clock of yesterday.

Your dream can still come to life.

Your song can still be written.

Your purpose can still be fulfilled.

It is never too late
to begin.

Never say never.

For as long as you have breath,
you still have a chance.
