The Bell Still Rings

We were children with dust upon our feet,

Books in our arms,

Bells in our hands,

Serving where faith gathered—

Never imagining

That destiny was quietly taking attendance.

We thought

We were helping our parents.

Heaven knew

It was shaping our hearts.

The years have passed.

The little bell

Has become a louder sound.

The child

Who once walked the Synod grounds,

Selling hope in printed pages,

Returned to the same altar—

Not as a vendor,

But as a voice.

What grace has written,

No hand can erase.

Then came the moment

That silenced every doubt.

He bought a bell

From a young boy—

Not because he needed a bell,

But because he remembered.

Those who never forget

Where God first found them

Will never cease to marvel

At where His mercy has carried them.

As I watched him

Lift his song of gratitude,

I was not merely seeing

A man celebrate success;

I was witnessing

Grace

Recognising grace.

For I, too,

Was there.

I knew the dust.

I knew the books.

I knew the bells.

I knew those quiet days

When service wore no title

And faith sought no applause.

Now I know

Something greater:

God wastes nothing.

Not a humble errand.

Not a willing hand.

Not a faithful step.

Not a single tear

Sown in quiet obedience.

The bell still rings.

Its sound no longer calls for buyers;

It calls for believers.

It speaks to every child

Of humble beginnings,

Every dreamer

Clothed in obscurity,

Every servant

Hidden from applause:

Stay faithful.

Stay humble.

Stay available.

For the God

Who writes destinies

Still turns

Servants into leaders,

Lessons into legacies,

And little beginnings

Into living testimonies.

To Him alone

Be all the glory—

Yesterday,

Today,

And through every generation.

Amen.
