Ballad from the grave

I had my hopes and dreams.
And my fervent ambitions.
Things the world made me achieve.
Not excluding my derelictions

I never learned to love
For I feared the other side of hate
My heart was one big diamond
So I kept it in a safe

I turned moods sour
Dropping heads at my feet
All to gain power
Everyday it was on repeat

Oh, the companionship I yearn,
But I built fences of stone
And gates of wood and iron
To protect all I own

I should have remained a little one
And made my heart brave.
I regret all I have done
As I look on from the grave
