Letter to mama

Why silence when I asked you

When would my painted future move

Designed with colours borrowed

From the sea and rainbow

I could still remember the silence

Thrown at me when I asked

Why is Dad moody and worried

Am too young to see the struggles

I was fed with silence

When I asked my mama why

She gave me the bread and milk

When she herself had not eaten

Or the silence when I asked

Why old robes, outside is colourful and new

I need new shoes, for my toes ache with complain

Too young to understand but now am sorry

For making you battle with silence

Not your timing

Cameth death to me

Arms folded' unsmilingly

Asked i' why thou art here

It's not time, my soul doth tell

Silence!! He thundered at me

Is that you that dost the timing

Countered i' but still young and feeble me is

Many out there older than my days is

Squated he and said, even if a day old dies

It's simply because the time is ripe

On placing his freezing eyes on my chest

Me flew out of slumber holding my head

Forbidden poem

The poet dozed and let fall his pen

But quick are his fingers to pick it up

So he settles in a dark shade to write

The forbidden poem

The forbidden poem is tongue that speaks

Of the injustice and ills of the society

The poet hand shakes but his mind is made

To write the forbidden poem

He wield his pen as though it's a sword

He could damage and repair with written words

He scribbled creatively on every soul

The forbidden poem

The forbidden poem points at no hair

But the guilt read and feels the sting

He declares the poet his friendly foe

For writing the forbidden poem

The forbidden poem is a voice that speaks

Of the injustice and ills of the society

The poet hand shakes but his mind is made

To write the forbidden poem

Crowned Lion

When lions come together

And call the lambs their friends

Let us be your leaders

Your support is what we lend

The lambs were made to work

Like the three hands inside the clock

What they were paid were lies

Reward for their kindred cries

Their kids converse in hushed tones

They choicelessly chew on bones

They made lions their leaders

And the lambs becomes their dinners

One and two their types are missing

They found their bones at the Lions bin

They were given the right to speech

But truthful speeches are tossed in prison

Oh grumbling lying lions

Feed me not, to your roaring bellies

I know your tooth are made of irons

And so is my blood full of poisons

An icon

Great man, no statue

his memories still lingers

In our youthful minds.

One Nigeria

The dungeon in the palace

Is where we dwell

We left our palace overgrown with grass

While we inhale the sad smell

Our country blessed by GOD

But we divorce it to rot

We let the sharp grass grow

Shields for crime to lie low

Is it not yet time

To let our speech rhyme

To come together as one

And kick down the dungeon bars

Let's spread far and wide

Like a fire summoned from the wild

Consuming all hidden grasses

Clearing them away like thrashes

Let's build another country

Where we no longer live in shadows

Where we all share one goal

Which is the oneness of our country

Let's build a country

To call home

Where we can peacefully

And freely roam.
